Is it Springtime yet?

I'm super excited to share with you a project I created with a few friends over the weekend!  We each started with the same Prima metal birdhouse, but each of us have totally different finished projects.  I just loved seeing what each of us created, as we all have our own style!  Too fun!
I decided to begin my project with a color scheme in mind.  I chose pink, brown and cream.  My idea was to create something that could be out all spring for a new decoration in our home.  First, I decided to use a tan and cream print for the background which I topped with a die that is supposed to give the illusion of a gate.  Hope you can see that??!!  I created a little banner on top of that with some antique music paper.  I rubbed on the words, "Live Simply" on top of the banner.  That was pretty much it for the backdrop.
Inside the birdhouse there's several things going on.  There's a bird's nest with three speckled eggs, a mini flower pot with pink and cream flowers, a little vial of bird seed, a picture of my honey and me and a little fence that I distressed.  On top of the fence is a paper flower with a spring sticker on it.  Can you see my little birdie?  It's from Two Paper Divas "Sing Like a Bird" stamp set.  I stamped him in brown and added Wink Of Stella to part of him.  He glistens so perfectly inside the birdhouse (he's on a metal pin to raise him up a tad)!  A perfect addition for my spring project!
Moving up the side of the birdhouse are several paper rolled flowers in browns, tans and pinks.  Linda was a good sport and brought twigs for us to use on our projects.  Thanks Linda! :)  I added a double layer butterfly with pearls and a seam binding bow with a heart charm.
At the top of the house, I glued a pink burlap flower and a metal "Authentic" sign.  One of my favorite parts is the battery operated lantern that I glued to the front.  Isn't it sweet?  I wanted to complete this project by having a fence go from the front to the back, so I did just that and added a cream tree.  The final part of my project was to glue moss to the entire bottom.
I sure hope you have gotten a little springtime inspiration from my birdhouse project.  It was a blast to create with Melissa, Cyndy and Linda.  Thanks girls for an oh so fun day of crafting, laughing, chatting and eating all those goodies!

Make sure you check out Two Paper Divas on February 5th...they will be releasing several new stamps.  Believe me, you won't want to miss these!  Also, Two Paper Divas has some new designers that just started this month.  The ladies are so talented and have amazing creations that they post each week to their blogs.  You can click HERE and check out what they have done.  I'm learning a lot from them as they have all kinds of techniques that I haven't tried before.

Make it a great day!

Thinking of You

No one enjoys making sympathy cards, but unfortunately they are something that is needed.  I try really hard to make my cards as personal as possible so that in some small way I can help comfort the family in their time of loss.  I've had to send several sympathy cards lately and I wanted to share one with you.
For this card, I used one of Two Paper Divas stamp sets that is back in stock called "God's Creation".  It's one of my favorites for these types of cards because it is simple, yet elegant.  I used some printed papers for my background and roughed up the edges for an aged look.  I added a paper doily, a seam binding bow with twine and a few layered flowers with pearls in the center.  To really make the "Thinking of You" saying and the grasses pop, I stamped them on cream cardstock and layered kraft paper behind it.  Simple and to the point...a nice card to send to that someone you are thinking about.

Make it a great day!

From The Heart

I'm trying to stay on task, so I don't get behind on my Valentine cards...it's only a month away, you know!
I wanted to share a sweet card that would be perfect for that coffee/tea person in our lives.  I started with a few Valentine patterned papers and a little lace for the background.  I used two different stamp sets from Two Paper Divas, A Cup of Joy and Simple Phrases.  I wanted to have the pitcher pouring hearts into the cup and saucer, so hopefully I achieved that!
I popped a few of the hearts and added Wink of Stella to the saucer and pitcher for a little glittery shine!  I then added a lace bow and flower as well.  I love the simple saying, "From The Heart" and thought it would be perfect!

Hope you are staying warm and cozy these days!  Thanks for dropping by Kirby's Kards!

Make it a great day!

Valentine Altoid Tin

I've been wanting to try using an Altoid tin to make a sweet, little project for a while now.
I decided to go with a Valentine theme and use a picture of my honey and me!  I started with a few patterned papers for the background.  The one on the left side looks like a library card and says, "Our Love Story."  To that paper I added a tag, polka dot heart, metal 14 sign, heart stick pin and Two Paper Divas Candy Heart that reads "Be Mine."
On the right side of the tin, I used a picture of Bryan and me.  I added a fence with some paper flowers, love cutout and "Kiss Me" from Two Paper Divas.
I finished the project by adding some mini pom pom ribbon to the outer edge.
I hope you have enjoyed my first try using an Altoid tin!  Thanks for stopping by Kirby's Kards!

Make it a great day!
