Acorns and Leaves

I've been having a lot of fun playing with some new fall stamps from Two Paper Divas.  This card uses their set called "Fall Leaves."  I just love it because the leaves are soooo big!  That's such a great look!

I started with some plain jane white cardstock for the base of the card.  Then I added a layer of  small orange check paper as well as a layer of olive plaid paper to give the card some added dimension.  The three different leaves were stamped on white paper and  then cut out.  I used several inks by Tim Holtz to get just the color shading that I wanted.  I did the same thing with the acorns.  They are all popped for a 3-D effect.  For the bow I used white seam binding and brown twine.  The "Fall is in the air" sentiment is also from my friends at Two Paper Divas.  I finished this autumn card by adding three burnt orange dots at the bottom.

Two Paper Divas is having something special coming up real soon called "Divas Day Out" on September 26th in Lenexa, KS.  You can click here for more details.  It will be awesome!!!

Make it a great day!

Freshly Made Sketches #200

OMG!!!  Today is an exciting day at Freshly Made Sketches!  They are celebrating their 200th sketch!  If you aren't familiar with them, they have a website where they post a new card sketch idea each week that is fresh, clean and simple.  It allows you to do whatever you like using their card design.  I have participated several times now as it is a lot of fun to try something new and different.  I find myself getting stuck in a rut with my cards...they all come out similar.  Their sketches have allowed me to branch out a little bit!  So on that note, check out my card using Freshly Made Sketches 200th design:

I started with a teal mini polka dot print for the background, which I layered white card stock on the top portion and a red, yellow and teal floral print for the bottom of the card.  I know it's not considered clean, but I roughed up all the edges as that's something I love doing!  Please, don't tell on me!!!  I added white rick rack to help separate the papers and used the Two Paper Divas stamp set "flower doodles" for the adorable flower.  Don't you just love the white sequins that I glued on to make the center of the flower?  The sentiment that I stamped in green ink is another one of Two Paper Divas stamps.  It is from their "Happy Mother's Day" set.   I stamped the sentiment on white card stock and then popped it on a red and white patterned paper.

A special thanks to Freshly Made Sketches for allowing the Two Paper Divas designers to play with you all this week!  Congrats!

Make it a great day!

Autumn Inspired

I love decorating for the different holidays throughout the year and our little doorstep is a fun place for that!  How can you not have a wreath or something on the door at least??!!  I think that autumn may be my very favorite season to decorate for.  I just can't resist all the pumpkins, gourds, hay bales and corn shocks! Well, my latest creation is kind of on that same note.  It's supposed to give the illusion of a door or what I would like a door to look like!

I started with three different fall patterned papers.  One is dark brown with a pumpkin/vine design, another is a polka dot print and the last is rust colored with a circle print.  I added brown ribbon with two brads a little over half way up on the card.  For the wreath, I started with a circle pierced die cut that I stamped with two different shades of brown ink using the set "Twigs and Berries" from Two Paper Divas.  Then I finished my card by stamping two leaves from the set "Fall is in the Air" on kraft paper and I added a bow made out of brown twine.  Oops, almost forgot the saying at the bottom is also from Two Paper Divas called "Simple Phrases."

Hope this card has inspired you to start creating some "fall-ish" cards!

Make it a great day!

ABC

A, B, C, 1, 2, 3...school is back in session!  Check out this tag that I made for Two Paper Divas latest stamp release:

I had a couple sheets of back to school paper by Graphic 45 and it worked out perfect!  I started by cutting out the little girl writing on a chalkboard, the stack of books, flash card and abc.  The ruler and pencil are both stamps from Two Paper Divas set called "Pencil and More."  I roughed up the edges on everything to make my tag a little more rustic and old-fashioned.  A couple black sequins, also from Two Paper Divas, were added as well as the bow at the top of the tag.  This is ready for the mailbox!

Thanks for taking a minute to check out my latest creation!

Make it a great day!

Home Sweet Home

I have to say that this card was an absolute joy to make!  I used one of the latest stamp sets released by Two Paper Divas called "My Neighborhood" which includes three different houses, clouds, a flower box and a tree.  Isn't it just the cutest??!!

Almost all of the cards that I make are just flat, but I decided to use a scalloped die cut for the front of the card and then have the inside of the circle be the inside of the card.  Does that make any sense at all?  I sure hope so!!!  Anyway, I used a tan and white check paper for the outside, along with a couple of sequins, a pink bow and the "Life is Good" sentiment from Two Paper Divas.  The inside of the card has the same scalloped circle with the little house that has a whole bunch of cute details.  I stamped the house on white cardstock and used Copic markers to color it along with the flower box and tree.  Everything on the inside is popped to give some extra dimension.  I used a pale blue and white polka dot paper for the sky and green cardstock for the grass.

Sure hope you enjoyed my latest creation using the new set "My Neighborhood" by Two Paper Divas.

Make it a great day!

Back to School

School days are here again!  I remember how big of a deal it was to get to pick out my school supplies growing up.  Which kind of binder, notebook paper, pencils, folders, markers, backpack, etc. was I going to decide on?  The beginning of a new school year was always a very exciting time.  Meeting my new teacher, catching up with friends and getting back into a routine that I found myself missing during the summer always gave the start to school a special feel.  Do any of you have any favorite back to school memories?  In keeping with the "back to school" theme, I wanted to share a fun card with you.  Check it out:

I absolutely love aqua and orange together, so I started with check and polka dot papers.  I stamped the notebook paper from Two Paper Divas set called "Paper Elements Two" and cut it out.  It is popped on the orange paper and a little paperclip was added to the left side.  I wrapped some twine underneath and also circled it under the pencil.  The pencil is a stamp from Two Paper Divas "Pencil and More" set.  To complete this card I added a few stars and a couple little arrows.  The sentiment "You're a Star" is from Two Paper Divas as well.

Found this picture of myself on the first day of school!

Make it a great day!
