For a Special Guy!

Two Paper Divas shared a freebie apron pattern on their website the other day (which you can still print) and I decided to use it for a birthday card for Bryan's uncle, Denny.  He is definitely an outdoor kind of guy, spending time repairing equipment and any honey-do's that his wife, Nancy comes up with!  Check out the not-so-typical card I made for Denny:

I cut the apron out of kraft paper because I wanted it to have a rustic, worn look.  The tools come from Two Paper Divas stamp set "You're a Handy Man."  They were all stamped and cut out of kraft and gray paper.  Aren't they the cutest??!!  The gloves were stamped on a red and white check paper for a pop of color.  I added a paper ruler and a little pocket that holds the nails  The sentiment is from the set "For a Special Guy."  I added two brads to the sentiment to make it look like nails or screws.  To finish this man card off, I added black stitches to the edges as well as twine at the top.

Thanks for checking out my latest birthday card!

Make it a great day!

Summertime Flowers

It's been a crazy weather week here in the Kansas City area.  We've had storms, high winds and quite a bit of rain in just a few short hours.  But, even after all of that our flowers aren't looking that bad, thankfully!  Because of the rain, the temperature is a little cooler so we've been taking advantage of that and taking the dogs on some well needed walks.

Today, I wanted to share a summertime card using one of my favorite stamps from Two Paper Divas.

It's the "Seedpacket" which allows you to put different flowers into the oval center as well as many choices for your sentiment banner.  I chose to use these sweet flowers as well as the "Get Well Soon" saying.  I really love greens and yellows for this time of the year, so I stuck with those colors and used copics to color everything in.  The seed packet has been trimmed in kraft paper and popped for a 3-D effect as well as the sentiment.  I used a scallop punch on the yellow gingham paper and made two layers at the top of the card.  Green and white twine was added to the top layer of the paper and then tied into a bow.  I also added a couple of dots to the bottom left corner in three different sizes.

Here's a close up of the seedpacket.  Check out the Wink of Stella I used on the centers of the flowers.  I wanted to add just a little bit of sparkle, so fun!

Finally, check out the inside of my card.  It's a mini, itsy bitsy seedpacket!  I thought it was precious with the lady bug!

Thanks for stopping by Kirby's Kards today to check out my latest project!  If you live in Kansas, enjoy these next couple of days of cooler weather!

Make it a great day!

Wicked Witches

I was super excited when Two Paper Divas released their new stamps at the beginning of June.  They have the cutest Halloween stamp set called "Wicked Wear Accessories" that you will not want to miss out on!

I fell in love with the witch legs and mini skirts!  The legs have striped socks with heeled boots and the skirts have three points on them.  Aren't they funny??!!  They are hanging from a fence, which is also a stamp from Two Paper Divas.  The mini clothespins are stamped on kraft paper and cut out.  I love them!  They're from stamp set, "Wanna Hang Out."  I added some grass, a witch's broom and a scary vulture to the fence.  To give this card a night time feel, I used black card stock for the background and popped the "Spooky" banner in orange.  It's a stamp from the same new Halloween set too.

Thanks for checking out my latest card using stamps from my friends at Two Paper Divas!

Make it a Spooky day!

God Bless America using FMS #191

What are your traditions for Independence Day?  Do you have a family barbecue followed by going to a park to watch fireworks?  Do you head to the lake for some swimming, boating and fun in the sun followed by watching the fireworks over the water?  When I was a kid, my hometown would let everyone come down to the ball fields to shoot off their fireworks.  It was safe environment and you got to enjoy everyone else's fireworks.  Well, I was not the pyromaniac in my family...that would be my brother, Levi.  Even as a little kid, he would be shooting off those Black Cats and throwing them into the air to pop or sitting them under a tin can to blow the can in the air.  No fear what so ever!!!  I would just stay in the stands enjoying the show, while probably eating some popcorn! :)

Well, keeping in the festive spirit of the Fourth of July, I wanted to share with you a fun card I made using this week's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  All of the stamps used are from Two Paper Divas.

I used a few patriotic patterned papers for my background.  For the center portion of the card, I used a paper that had the National Anthem on it.  I topped it with a cute red and blue banner.  Each pendant has been stamped and cut out.  These are from Two Paper Divas set "Let Freedom Ring."  There's several neat stamps in this set and a few sentiments as well.  I added some red and cream twine to the banner and finished it off with a couple bows.  I've been in a sequin mood lately, so I added a few of those to the card as well.

May we be reminded of how truly blessed we are to live in the United States of America.  God Bless America!

Make it a great day!

Sunny & Bright

We've been planting a few flowers in our yard today and it inspired me to make a card to reflect our day.  Bryan was in charge of pushing the wheelbarrow and digging the holes.  I was the planter and water girl!  Don't you just love all the gorgeous colors of the flowers in the spring and summer?

I started my card with an aqua gingham background that I ran through the die cutting machine to stitch the edges.  I added two rows of grass to the bottom and stamped the wheelbarrow on kraft paper.  It's a stamp from Two Paper Divas.  The flowers are from stamp set "Seed Packet Flowers #2" which I cut out and colored with Copics.  Orange and aqua are such a fun color combination.  Check out the Wink of Stella I added to the flowers...

"You Make All My Days Sunny And Bright" is from Summer Sentiments by Two Paper Divas.  To finish this card off, I added three sequins for a little extra bling!

Hope you are able to get outside and plant some beautiful flowers in your yard!

Make is a great day!

Life is Good!

I've got several fun cards to share with you, all of them using the latest stamp releases from my friends at Two Paper Divas!  The first is a cute card featuring their "Hooters" stamp.  Check out the adorable owls!

I wanted to use some bright, summertime colors for this card and really pop those owls!  Don't you just love the saying, "Life is Good!!??"  Here's a quick look at the inside of my card.

This next card showcases the set "Delightful Sunflowers."  It's perfect for all those birthdays, thinking of you, etc.  I used papers from Graphic 45 that my co-worker Linda gave me.  Thanks Linda!  Love all the rich colors!

I know it's quite a while until Halloween, but check out this new stamp set entitled "Wicked Wear Accessories."  All of the critters/clothes/words fit on the clothesline (which is also a stamp from Two Paper Divas), love it!

Finally, to wrap up this blog post a summertime card featuring "Catch Me If You Can."  There's several bugs/grass/items that you can put inside the mason jar.  I chose to use the lightning bugs with the grass for this project.  Wouldn't this be fun to send to all those nieces, nephews, grandchildren and cousins?  I think so!

I hope these cards have inspired you a little bit to get crafty in your card room!  On warm, humid days like these, the cool air conditioning inside feels pretty good!

Make it a great day!

For Dad

Well, it's been a few days since I shared a card with you because my hubby and I just returned from a vacation to the "Windy City" of Chicago!  It was a fabulous time, taking in all the touristy sites including the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Navy Pier, Willis Tower, Art Institute, Magnificent Mile, Architecture Tour via boat and finally concluding our trip with a baseball game at Wrigley Field.  And yes! our Royals beat the Cubbies 8-4!  It was AWESOME!

Enough about me, let's move on to this "Man Card" I made just in time for Father's Day!  I picked out a couple of coordinating papers with grays and browns to start this card and topped them with a piece of brown felt.  To that, I added the notebook paper stamp from Two Paper Divas Paper Elements #2 stamp set along with a couple of sentiments from their set "For Dad" that read, "#1 Dad and Happy Father's Day."  Next, I used some twine and a brown button to add some texture to the left side.  And finally, a couple of enamel dots in gray to finish this project!

Thanks for taking a minute to check out my latest creation!  Hope you get to have some fun, family time this summer enjoying the great outdoors!

Make it a great day!
